Speaking to the Rotary club is an honor.  As a group we are business and community leaders.  If you do the math, 30 minutes of 40 people's time is 20 hours of exposure.  It's not unreasonable to value our time at $100/hr.  Consequently, the opportunity to present a program to our club could be valued at $2,000.  We're certainly not asking anyone to pay to speak to us.  But we do need to recognize the value of the opportunity to their organization.  In other words, we don't need to beg for programs.

In the interest of making programs more interesting, we are going to mix things up a bit this year.

First of all, we will have vocational speeches every month.  Rotarians will have the opportunity to give a short program to the club on their topic of expertise.  There is a lot of knowledge amongst us, let's leverage it to help each other out.  This will also be a benefit to present to potential members who are looking to network and advance their careers and/or business.

If you volunteer to find speakers for a month, you will have "dibs" on being the vocational speech for that month.

Secondly, we will have more programs on Rotary itself.  Rotary International has assigned a "theme" to most months.  Themes range from Literacy, to Family and Rotary Foundation.  We would like to have the first program of a themed month be on the Rotary theme for that month.  Some of these programs will be given by the corresponding committee, and others will be presented by volunteers.

If you are interested in volunteering to find speakers for a month, please let Will Duke know.
